Sarah Palin
The upcoming election can be counted now in weeks as opposed to months, and Mr. John McCain's pick shows the bold type of flair that acknowledges that this race is now coming to a critical point. While McCain has demonstrated throughout his career that he is a maverick that has made a career of shaking things up in DC, the Obama camp still seems to attack McCain and his plans as representing a "Bush 3" campaign. This is dismissive to a man who has served the country to the point of torture, crossed the isle and worked with liberals such as Sentor Russ Feingold to take on tough bipartisan issues such as campaign finance reform. McCain has been anything but "same old Republican politics", pushing the envelope with issues like immigration and healthcare reform to the point that his own party started to suggest he look to pursue his goals on the other side. But for some reason, McCain does not get credit for this. But now, in true McCain form, he surprises almost all of us even further by his pick of Sarah Palin. And what a brilliant pick it is. Not only are we going to break history either way this November (as an african american man or a woman will hold one of the top two most powerful spots in the Country, and arguably the world), this election just beame about 1000 times more interesting that either of the Bush elections, and throw in the Clinton elections while you are at it. And not only does Sarah Palin appear to really be passionate about what needs to change in America, she is also for the lack of a better phrase, quite attractive. And as if intellect, looks, and a genuine demeanor isn't enough to impress you, her outdoorsman skills and role as a mother of 5 leaves you asking the question of exactly what things can't this woman do.
